Bishnu Nirmala Children`s Library was established in the year 1985. This library is specially for Children`s who are under the age of 4 to 16 years. This library is situated in-front of Latasil play ground of Guwahati.
This library is a successful dream of our honourable ex-chief Minister of assam late Bishnuram Medhi, Who was the 2nd chief minister of independent asssam.Bishnuram Medhi was the first assamese Governor who had been appointed as a Gorenor of Madras.This library under the control of Directorate of Library services, Department of cultural affairs of assam Government.
The library compreses three separet section.one is for reading books,one is for children corner for plying games and watching TV program like carton & news etc, other is lending section. No formal membership is required to use reading section. any children can enter the library, sing in a register and use the books. but make use of lending sections facility one must be become permanent member of the library, through on a prescribed form. A permanent member two books can be borrowed at a time for a period of 15 days, on the base of need one can be extended for another 15 days by personal visit. Well equipped with books English , assamese, hindi, bengoli library provides children with reading material for information and fun. at present the Bishnu Nirmala Children Library hold about more then fourteen thausand books and eleven peripdicals of English and assamese language.
